Primate Global Foundation

Primate Global is a small US based not for profit foundation. Our mission is to protect primate habitats by supporting research and conservation initiatives which address human-wildlife conflict.

As a result of human encroachment on natural ecosystems, non-human primates and other wildlife are threatened with the consequences of  expanding human populations and must adapt, or face extinction. As numerous studies have documented, several non- human primate species have adapted particularly well to living in close proximity to humans, relying to some extent on human food. This comes with its own set of problems, and solutions often require a multifaceted approach.

Small grants will be given to researchers seeking solutions to the unique issues which arise when humans and wildlife live in close proximity.

Proposals will be accepted starting in 2021. Stay tuned as our website expands and please sign our mailing list for periodic news and updates.

About the Founder

About the Founder
Leslie Kadane

Leslie holds undergraduate degrees in photography and cultural anthropology from the University of Redlands, and an MSc in primate conservation from Oxford Brookes University. Leslie has worked on numerous research and conservation projects with various species of non-human primates, both in the United States and on the African continent. Prior to conducting her graduate research, Leslie observed humans interacting with monkeys in several areas of the world where the two live in close proximity.
Fascinated with these interactions, Leslie’s graduate research focused on exploring monkey-human interactions in detail in Gede Ruins National Monument, on the Kenyan coast. It was here that Leslie realized the critical role humans play in conservation, and decided to start Primate Global.

Gede Ruins National Monument De-Snare Initiative

The Gede Ruins de-snare initiative is a partnership between Gede Ruins, Friends of Gede Ruins (a community based organization), and Primate Global Foundation. The goal of this partnership is to protect the flora and fauna found within Gede Ruins National Monument.
Weekly patrols record illegal activity and remove snares, traps, and other items intending to catch or harm wildlife. Since 2015, Friends of Gede Ruins de-snare associates have collected 415 snares and traps combined.
